[OOC] Christmas fic!

'sup, homeskillets?

Christmas is coming up, and, because I'm going to have a lot of free time this week, and I want to write more with Gwen, I've decided to do a request post! So basically, here's how it works:

Step 1: You pick what you want (topic, characters, setting, prompt, etc.)
Step 2: I write you something! It could be a drabble, or a fic, or something inbetween. We'll see!
Step 3: Read, and enjoy. Hopefully.

So, request away!

keywords from arthur :p

I think something Arthur/Gwen that deals with the dish washing, because that convo is adorable.

And Merlin won't let me get away unless I request Merlin/Gwen, 'the road not taken'.

Awww!

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh, those will both be fun! I have a total soft spot for Merlin/Gwen, but I've never written it before, so we'll see how it goes.

...and Gwen might make Arthur wash her dishes. XD

A Time For Humility (1/2)

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
((Part 2 will be posted whenever I, um. Finish it.))

“Guinevere?”

“Arthur?” Gwen looked over at Arthur, who had appeared out of nowhere and was standing next to her. She’d never seen him in the kitchens before, and to say she was surprised was to put it lightly. “What are you doing here?”

“I could ask you the same question.” Arthur just looked at her, confused. “Why are you washing the dishes?”

It took Gwen a moment to collect her thoughts before she smiled, and answered him. “It’s soothing, in a weird way.”

Her answer just confused him even more. “But I thought you said you hated washing dishes.”

“I do.”

“Then why—“ He stopped himself in the middle of the question, then started to laugh. “You always surprise me, even now” He leaned down to kiss her, then rolled up his sleeves. “Where do I start?”

Now it was Gwen’s turn for the confused expression. “Where do you start?”

“Washing the dishes?”

She blinked, then handed him a cloth. “Why don’t you dry the ones I’ve finished washing?”

Arthur took the cloth, and stood next to her, drying the dishes she handed him, following instructions whenever she gave them. And if any of the servants found it weird that their king and queen were in the kitchen, washing the breakfast dishes, they didn’t say anything.

A Time For Humility (2/2)

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
Gwen’s eldest son was standing in front of her, pouting. Amhar had a pout that could rival Arthur’s, and, it took a considerable amount of her willpower not to give into it.

“Can’t I make the beds, instead?”

“Duran’s helping with the beds today.”

Amhar groaned. “What if I ask him to trade with me, and he says yes?”

No, Amhar.” Gwen knew Amhar had traded chores with his younger brother before, and wasn’t going to let it happen again. Duran did anything Amhar told him to. “You’re washing the dishes today, and that’s that.”

“But I hate washing dishes!” Amhar looked like he wanted to throw a temper tantrum, but a stern look from Gwen stopped it in its tracks. “Mother, please, I’ll do anything else. Anything. I’ll muck out the stables, clean the leech tanks, anything! Just don’t don’t make me wash the dishes.”

Gwen just shook her head. “Off to the kitchens with you. The sooner you finish, the sooner you can stop complaining about.” When he just stood there, looking like he was going to start complaining again, she took him by the shoulders, turned him around, and gave him a gentle shove. “Go! Now! And if I hear that you got lost along the way again, you’ll be washing dishes for a month!”

The shove and the threat seemed to convince Amhar that it was best to get going, before his mother did something really horrible to him. As he walked away, he muttered something about how it was bad enough that he was the crown prince and his mother was making him do chores, but it was worse that she seemed to have him on the rotation to wash dishes more than anything.

“I heard that!” Gwen called after him, trying to suppress a smile. “Be good for the head cook!”

“His aversion to washing dishes must run in the family.” Gwen turned around, to see Arthur leaning against the wall, chuckling. “I seem to remember a certain maidservant telling me how much she abhorred the chore.”

“Yes, but that maidservant could never wiggle her way out of it.” She smiled at him. “And neither will her son. He’ll appreciate it, one day.”

“I’m sure he will. You certainly do.” Arthur offered Gwen his arm, and started to walk when she accepted it. “Though I have a feeling he won’t be going down to the kitchens to wash dishes when he needs calming down, like you do.”

“You never know.” Gwen answered, laughing. “I never thought it was something I’d do.”

Oh, Gwen <3 see how you need that chore after all. lol

I think these were cute, but also a great look into future married Gwen and Arthur!

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, yes! Silly Gwen.

It didn't actually start out with them being married, but just kind of ended up going in that direction. And once they were married, I couldn't resist the idea of Gwen making her kids do chores!

Merlin/Gwen || The Road Not Taken

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-28 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
Gwen had never been a particularly big fan of rough-tumble, save the world kind of guys. Too much time spent around Prince Arthur, who had been “trained to kill since birth,” and Leon, who wasn’t nearly as much of a prat as Arthur, but still had his moments, had her convinced that they were all the same, that they were all, to put it lightly, jerks, and she wanted absolutely nothing to do with that.

Merlin was a breath of fresh air, when she first met him. He wasn’t afraid to stand up for what he believed in, and he was sweet. She really couldn’t help falling for him, and when she fell, she fell hard.

Merlin, for his part, didn’t seem to notice at first, and thought of her as a friend. But, after she kissed him, it was hard not to notice. She had kissed him, after all. And friends usually don’t just kiss their friends. And if they did, they didn’t get butterflies in their stomachs.

It was a bit awkward after the kiss, but things seemed to follow a natural progression of events. Merlin and Gwen had an awkward conversation, which ended with Merlin asking Gwen if she’d like to join him on a walk through the woods. Walks through the woods turned into picnics, when the weather was nice enough, and shared meals in Gwen’s house, or Gaius’s chambers when it wasn’t. Kisses were stolen in alcoves and hallways when they crossed paths and nobody was looking. And hands were held whenever possible. They were shy and secretive at first, but grew bolder over time, and soon all of the servants in the castle were gossiping about them.

They were happy, though, and that was all that mattered. Or, at least it was all that mattered to them.

omg say it with me now. Awwwwwwww!

sweetest couple in nonexistance!

[identity profile] secrettalents.livejournal.com 2010-12-28 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I may be forced to tag Gwen with a besotted Merlin someday. by spell or by some crazy season one twist of fate XD

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-28 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
No arguments from me about that! I think it'd be super cute. :D And potentially hilarious, depending on the reason why!

Hmmm....

Well, part of me wants to be cruel and continue the awkwardness by having Arthur walk in on Gwen. But heh no.

Hmmm...How about Arthur get's Amhar his first sword...at like five or something and Gwen's response, which I imagine would be the written version of o.O

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 09:15 am (UTC)(link)
I'm always up for babyfic. I have a weakness for it. And babyfic with SWORDS! YAY!

DISHES.

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-24 09:47 am (UTC)(link)
It was a fact that Arthur was a jealous man. Sometimes all a man had to do was look at Gwen the wrong way for him to get jealous. And because there were lots of men in and out of Camelot, and because she was the queen, Gwen got a lot of looks from men, and, men being men, not all of them were strictly appropriate. Gwen, being Gwen, always tried to calm Arthur down before his jealousy lead to anything. But she couldn’t babysit him constantly, and sometimes, though rarely, things happened before she arrived to diffuse the situation.

She was walking through the courtyard with her daughter when she heard a commotion on the other end, and, when she saw Arthur taking off his glove, and all of her sons encouraging him, she knew that something bad was about to happen. Gwen marched across the courtyard, and, when she saw the look on his face, she had a feeling she knew exactly what was happening. Decorum be damned, she was not going to let Arthur fight another man just because he’d been looking at her. Again.“ Arthur!”

Arthur’s head turned towards her, and the look on his face changed from something she could only describe as “annoyed jealousy” to happy to see her, to “….oh, crap.” She’d used the same voice when saying his name that she used on the children when they were in trouble. He swallowed. “Hello, Guinevere.”

“Do I even have to ask?”

Arthur shook his head. “Probably not.”

“Go inside.” She pointed toward the closest door, and looked at her sons, who were all staring at the floor, hoping she wouldn’t notice. “All of you.”

It didn’t take her long to decide what to do with them, after that. Arthur’s jealousy was a problem, and if she had to punish him to get him to knock it off, she would. And she couldn’t have her sons acting like that in public.

“I want all of you to go to the kitchens after dinner tonight, and help with the dishes.”

“But Guinevere—“

“Don’t you “Guinevere” me. You’re washing dishes. All of you. And hopefully it’ll teach you some manners.”

She wasn't sure it it actually did teach them manners or not, but she did know that it kept Arthur from challenging men to duels over her for a long time.

I LOL'D! Will LOL again!

I can see this so clearly happening! And we all know where they end up!

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-24 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
LOL forever!

I still love that picture. It just goes to show you that nobody messes with Gwen, otherwise they end up doing dishes!

[identity profile] magicalskeptic.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
Things I never expected to see on a Gwen journal: homeskillets. :D

Step 1: Morgana and Gwen, obviously, with the prompt: retribution.

*waits impatiently for steps 2 & 3*

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
Gwen is ghetto fabulous, and you know it. :D

Oooh, that's a fun one.

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
...that icon is amazing, omg.

[identity profile] magicalskeptic.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
I never get an excuse to use my Modern Morgana icons. I bring them out when I can.

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
I don't blame you! They're pretty awesome.

[identity profile] magicalskeptic.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
I also have a pretty awesome hug icon too.

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
That hug makes me miss when they were friends. It was pretty much epic.

[identity profile] magicalskeptic.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
I think it's horrible they're not friends anymore. Granted, the pair of them being friends would never have worked because, one day, they'd look at each other and say, "all right, that's it boys, you're doing this all wrong," and take over Camelot.

That's why her bid for power failed! She needed Gwen on her side, not Morgause.

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure everything would've worked out perfectly in the end if it had been Gwen and Morgana vs. EVERYONE.

[identity profile] magicalskeptic.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
It wouldn't even have been a challenge. Clearly, Gwen and Morgana, when they combine forces, are unstoppable.

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly! Morgana should know that.

[identity profile] magicalskeptic.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
She does; the writers don't.

They don't play nicely with their puppets. Why don't they have an HMD?

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
Because they fail at a whole lot of things. Why not that, too?

[identity profile] weeskeptic.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
Wee!Morgana would like to ask for the prompt: reflection. (If that's allowed!)

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
Of course it's allowed! The world needs more wee!Morgana. :D

[identity profile] weeskeptic.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
I'm going to throw her at SWS again shortly.

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
Hooray! She's adorable. I love how she's always trying to stick it to Uther, too. Some things just never change.

[identity profile] weeskeptic.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
I have canon to support this. The writers may have forgotten their own canon at times, but I haven't.

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
Pssssh, the writers. IDK what to do with them.

[identity profile] weeskeptic.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
Push them out on an Arctic Ice floe? Sounds like a viable option.

[identity profile] weeskeptic.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
A friend and I were chatting about how we needed to go and take the show away from the writers before they do any more damage. Do you want in on this plan?

Now that we've added the ice floe aspect, I can't see how we can fail!

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! And it will be awesome.

[identity profile] weeskeptic.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 07:38 am (UTC)(link)
Once our position is secure, I suggest we make some liberal use of this. (http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcT_37mWKlmFJFqWzfimdw6ZldrqTKsVh8sg9OELsd8XLYMOoJFt)

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
Only if when we reset, we can get rid of any and all squicky Arthur/Morgana hints, because....squick.

[identity profile] weeskeptic.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
I suggest we get rid of the they are related bits, because, really, genetics, writers, learn to understand even you can't break them.

That, by default, removes the squick.

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
I'd be down with that, too! As long as the squick is gone.

[identity profile] weeskeptic.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
So, we have an official plan.

1) Take over the show.
2) Push the writers out on an ice floe.
3) Use the reset button.
4) REMOVE SQUICKINESS.
5) Profit.

There, it's a sound plan.

[identity profile] neverlostfaith.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 08:03 am (UTC)(link)
I approve of this plan!
