'sup, homeskillets?
Christmas is coming up, and, because I'm going to have a lot of free time this week, and I want to write more with Gwen, I've decided to do a request post! So basically, here's how it works:
Step 1: You pick what you want (topic, characters, setting, prompt, etc.)
Step 2: I write you something! It could be a drabble, or a fic, or something inbetween. We'll see!
Step 3: Read, and enjoy. Hopefully.
So, request away!

Date: 2010-12-20 06:26 am (UTC)...and Gwen might make Arthur wash her dishes. XD
A Time For Humility (1/2)
Date: 2010-12-21 05:44 am (UTC)“Guinevere?”
“Arthur?” Gwen looked over at Arthur, who had appeared out of nowhere and was standing next to her. She’d never seen him in the kitchens before, and to say she was surprised was to put it lightly. “What are you doing here?”
“I could ask you the same question.” Arthur just looked at her, confused. “Why are you washing the dishes?”
It took Gwen a moment to collect her thoughts before she smiled, and answered him. “It’s soothing, in a weird way.”
Her answer just confused him even more. “But I thought you said you hated washing dishes.”
“I do.”
“Then why—“ He stopped himself in the middle of the question, then started to laugh. “You always surprise me, even now” He leaned down to kiss her, then rolled up his sleeves. “Where do I start?”
Now it was Gwen’s turn for the confused expression. “Where do you start?”
“Washing the dishes?”
She blinked, then handed him a cloth. “Why don’t you dry the ones I’ve finished washing?”
Arthur took the cloth, and stood next to her, drying the dishes she handed him, following instructions whenever she gave them. And if any of the servants found it weird that their king and queen were in the kitchen, washing the breakfast dishes, they didn’t say anything.
A Time For Humility (2/2)
Date: 2010-12-21 06:44 am (UTC)“Can’t I make the beds, instead?”
“Duran’s helping with the beds today.”
Amhar groaned. “What if I ask him to trade with me, and he says yes?”
“No, Amhar.” Gwen knew Amhar had traded chores with his younger brother before, and wasn’t going to let it happen again. Duran did anything Amhar told him to. “You’re washing the dishes today, and that’s that.”
“But I hate washing dishes!” Amhar looked like he wanted to throw a temper tantrum, but a stern look from Gwen stopped it in its tracks. “Mother, please, I’ll do anything else. Anything. I’ll muck out the stables, clean the leech tanks, anything! Just don’t don’t make me wash the dishes.”
Gwen just shook her head. “Off to the kitchens with you. The sooner you finish, the sooner you can stop complaining about.” When he just stood there, looking like he was going to start complaining again, she took him by the shoulders, turned him around, and gave him a gentle shove. “Go! Now! And if I hear that you got lost along the way again, you’ll be washing dishes for a month!”
The shove and the threat seemed to convince Amhar that it was best to get going, before his mother did something really horrible to him. As he walked away, he muttered something about how it was bad enough that he was the crown prince and his mother was making him do chores, but it was worse that she seemed to have him on the rotation to wash dishes more than anything.
“I heard that!” Gwen called after him, trying to suppress a smile. “Be good for the head cook!”
“His aversion to washing dishes must run in the family.” Gwen turned around, to see Arthur leaning against the wall, chuckling. “I seem to remember a certain maidservant telling me how much she abhorred the chore.”
“Yes, but that maidservant could never wiggle her way out of it.” She smiled at him. “And neither will her son. He’ll appreciate it, one day.”
“I’m sure he will. You certainly do.” Arthur offered Gwen his arm, and started to walk when she accepted it. “Though I have a feeling he won’t be going down to the kitchens to wash dishes when he needs calming down, like you do.”
“You never know.” Gwen answered, laughing. “I never thought it was something I’d do.”

Date: 2010-12-21 04:04 pm (UTC)I think these were cute, but also a great look into future married Gwen and Arthur!

Date: 2010-12-21 04:17 pm (UTC)It didn't actually start out with them being married, but just kind of ended up going in that direction. And once they were married, I couldn't resist the idea of Gwen making her kids do chores!
Merlin/Gwen || The Road Not Taken
Date: 2010-12-28 06:41 am (UTC)Merlin was a breath of fresh air, when she first met him. He wasn’t afraid to stand up for what he believed in, and he was sweet. She really couldn’t help falling for him, and when she fell, she fell hard.
Merlin, for his part, didn’t seem to notice at first, and thought of her as a friend. But, after she kissed him, it was hard not to notice. She had kissed him, after all. And friends usually don’t just kiss their friends. And if they did, they didn’t get butterflies in their stomachs.
It was a bit awkward after the kiss, but things seemed to follow a natural progression of events. Merlin and Gwen had an awkward conversation, which ended with Merlin asking Gwen if she’d like to join him on a walk through the woods. Walks through the woods turned into picnics, when the weather was nice enough, and shared meals in Gwen’s house, or Gaius’s chambers when it wasn’t. Kisses were stolen in alcoves and hallways when they crossed paths and nobody was looking. And hands were held whenever possible. They were shy and secretive at first, but grew bolder over time, and soon all of the servants in the castle were gossiping about them.
They were happy, though, and that was all that mattered. Or, at least it was all that mattered to them.

Date: 2010-12-20 09:08 am (UTC)Well, part of me wants to be cruel and continue the awkwardness by having Arthur walk in on Gwen. But heh no.
Hmmm...How about Arthur get's Amhar his first sword...at like five or something and Gwen's response, which I imagine would be the written version of o.O

Date: 2010-12-20 09:15 am (UTC)DISHES.
Date: 2010-12-24 09:47 am (UTC)She was walking through the courtyard with her daughter when she heard a commotion on the other end, and, when she saw Arthur taking off his glove, and all of her sons encouraging him, she knew that something bad was about to happen. Gwen marched across the courtyard, and, when she saw the look on his face, she had a feeling she knew exactly what was happening. Decorum be damned, she was not going to let Arthur fight another man just because he’d been looking at her. Again.“ Arthur!”
Arthur’s head turned towards her, and the look on his face changed from something she could only describe as “annoyed jealousy” to happy to see her, to “….oh, crap.” She’d used the same voice when saying his name that she used on the children when they were in trouble. He swallowed. “Hello, Guinevere.”
“Do I even have to ask?”
Arthur shook his head. “Probably not.”
“Go inside.” She pointed toward the closest door, and looked at her sons, who were all staring at the floor, hoping she wouldn’t notice. “All of you.”
It didn’t take her long to decide what to do with them, after that. Arthur’s jealousy was a problem, and if she had to punish him to get him to knock it off, she would. And she couldn’t have her sons acting like that in public.
“I want all of you to go to the kitchens after dinner tonight, and help with the dishes.”
“But Guinevere—“
“Don’t you “Guinevere” me. You’re washing dishes. All of you. And hopefully it’ll teach you some manners.”
She wasn't sure it it actually did teach them manners or not, but she did know that it kept Arthur from challenging men to duels over her for a long time.

4) REMOVE SQUICKINESS.
5) Profit.
There, it's a sound plan.
